Not content with producing “just” a titanium watch, F.A. Porsche focused on designing a purpose-built . For the next few years Butzi and Porsche Design concentrated on a range of personal products including sunglasses and pens, but in 1977 he went back to watches, linking up with IWC to design the strange compass watch. This was a simple three-handed timepiece in a black anodised drum shaped case. The IWC Porsche Design Titanium Chronograph recalls the days when a 44mm Panerai would have been seemed like a prop from The Land of the Giants.
